Answer: What the hell took you so long!?!

Question: Marry me?

Yes, friends, after 2 years of being a girlfriend and 5 years of being a common-law partner, I am now officially a fiancee.

The last few days had been kinda strained with all the overtime Kirk's been putting in (working 12 full days in a row is NOT my idea of fun). So we decided that we were entitled to sleeping in on Sunday morning past 8am. I can't remember exactly what we were talking about but all of a sudden Kirk dropped the bomb.

A short while after I said yes (actual answer found in post title), we got up to find our slacker plans had backfired. At about 7am while we were sleeping in, Oscar had taken the largest dump EVAR in the middle of the loft floor. The little bastard didn't even TRY to wake us up.

Wow! Congrats Poopie!

But... did you REALLY say "What the hell took you so long", when a man asked you to marry him????

We've been talking about this for quite a while, and we were both flip-flopping (to borrow a too often used expression of late) on the subject. I had told him over a year ago that I would accept such a proposition if he ever decided to offer it. It just took him a bit longer than I had anticipated.

When he ended up asking me, I was so caught off guard that I just blurted that out before suffocating him with a bear hug.

I'm just picturing...

You're both lying in bed, he's cuddling you, worrying (all men do, even if you've been together 20 years) about what your answer will be.. if it's the right time.. waiting on tenderhooks... he gulps, says the words... and hears...

"What the hell took you so long".

Just sounds like it would have deflated the crap out of my ego, and my excitement....

BUT... I'm glad it's all worked out, and you're getting married shmoops.

ps, please, when the priest/Justice of the Peace says "Do you take Kirk....." don't say "yeah yeah yeah, we waited long enough..." *L*

Congratulations! That is great news. And I just had to wander over and congratulate Kirk as well. He was a bit confused.

An unfortunate side effect of me being shocked is that my inside voice becomes my outside voice and vice versa.

When Kirk asked me to marry him, I was thinking.

The most amazing thing about Kirk is that he knew how I would react (and what I meant to say) and yet he STILL wants to marry me.

Go figure.
